Henrik Jørgen Andersen
Arla Foods amba, Denmark

Henrik Jørgen Andersen is Senior Director Research at Arla Foods amba. Arla Foods amba is a co-operative owned by approximately 8,500 Danish and Swedish milk producers. Arla Foods amba is one of Europe's largest dairy company sourcing approximately 8.5 billion litres of milk a year. Its mission is to provide modern consumers with natural milk-based food products that create inspiration, confidence and well being. It is a global dairy group whose products are sold in more than 100 countries.

His day-to-day responsibilities include internal and external long-term research and development activities, global nutrition and intellectual properties. This includes elaboration and audit of global strategies and policies within research, nutrition and IP.

After completion of his MSc in Food Science and Technology, at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Life Science (former Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Denmark), he graduated with a Ph.D. in Food Chemistry from the same institution. He has been visiting scientist at Matforsk - Norwegian Food Research Institute - and visiting professor at UC Davis, California, USA.

Mr Andersen spent most of his working career within research and research management in the areas of food production, processing and storage working at universities and sector research institutes. He is still involved in research, and his most recent research activities include development of tools for quality control of raw materials and development of metabonomic approaches to understand the health supporting effects of food and food constituents.

Mr Andersen is appointed Honorary Professor in Nano and Food Science at University of Aarhus, Denmark. He is member of the board of Danish Dairy Research Foundation, member of the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences and the milk production committee under Swedish Farmers’ Foundation for Agricultural Research. Moreover, he is affiliated to the European Science Foundation as Danish expert within the area of Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology.
